Hi Everyone! Janet here...
I would like to express a big thank you to all those people that attended the Trivia night at the Davo RSL on Saturday night 14th June. I hope it was an enjoyable evening for you all.
I have received excellent feedback from numerous people (all positive) who really enjoyed the trivia challenge, and the light-hearted ‘competitive atmosphere’ between all the teams through-out the night. Overall, the event was a resounding success, making a nett profit of $1,780, which was recently presented to club president Ray Collins.
The overall winning team, and therefore our first Avoca Football Club trivia champions, were (drum roll please)…………
“The Gummies”
For their outstanding efforts, The Gummies were awarded the winning trophy and a $200 voucher from ‘The Point Cafe at Avoca’. CONGRATULATIONS to The GUMMIES for first place! There’s only one way to go from there!
Not so lucky on the night, yet still happy to get something for their efforts, was the team that picked up the wooden spoon award. Lucky for you, I couldn’t remember your name! You know who you are! Better luck next time guys!
A huge thank you to our host Sharon Parsons, who believe it or not, had never attended a trivia night before let alone run one! Sharon was a natural, keeping the night moving along very nicely, with a touch of fun along the way. A big thank you to Janet Griffin & Kristy Plunkett, who performed a brilliant job madly marking the answer sheets and adjudicating. Thanks also to Kim Freckelton for her great room prowess & covering the job as whiteboard scribe, another great helper! And I cannot forget the ‘bottle boys’ Jason Freckelton & Greg Riches who made the coin throwing challenge games very enjoyable.
Thanks also to Sasho of the Central Coast Mariners for coming out on the evening to help read a portion of the Trivia questions, and then joining in the game for a while. Its great to see that sort of support for the club!
Finally, the night would not have been the same without the generosity of our sponsors, who provided the cash and prizes that many of you were lucky enough to win. Laminated letters of appreciation have been presented to these sponsors as a thank you.
