Report No. 3- ERINA HIGH SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT UNDERWAY
The
official 'sod turning' for the commencement of works on the Erina
Sporting Precinct playing fields at the high school occurred last
Friday 30 May 2008.
This is an historic moment for the Avoca FC in our quest to acheive
a home ground closer to our local community. Around $2.5 million
has been secured to develop the site into a top quality facility
including a full sized football pitch, a modified junior sized pitch,
flood lights at 100 lux to provide for Friday night U/17 & 18
games, fencing, water storage, irrigation, drainage and re-turfing.
Ground construction is expected to start in August whilst work has
already started on the new ammentities building which includes a
new canteen, toilets, store room and 2 change rooms. A new car park
providing for 36 vehicles has already been completed.
Funding is a combined approach including $1.4 million from Gosford
Council, $900,000 from the Federal Government, $40,000 from Avoca
FC and $20,000 from a State Government grant. The provision of the
federal funding honours an election promise from the new Federal
Labor Member for Robertson Belinda Neal during last years election.
Weather permitting, work is on schedule for an official occupation
of our new home ground in time for the 2009 winter season.
